They didn’t believe in God.
They trusted science.
Then they died.

Atheists in Heaven explores the firsthand near-death experiences of people who had every reason to doubt an afterlife—doctors, scientists, atheists, addicts, and more. Yet, after clinically dying—some for minutes, some far longer—they returned with vivid memories of something beyond this world.

Through these true accounts, the book explores three essential questions:

Is there any evidence for God or an afterlife?
Why does a loving God allow suffering?
And what role does religion play—if any?

No answers are forced. No beliefs required.
Just stories that speak for themselves.
If there is more after death, it may be more real—and more beautiful—than we’ve ever imagined.

"I feel as though I am trying to describe a three-dimensional experience while living in a two-dimension world. The appropriate words, descriptions, and concepts don't even exist in our current language."

— Dr. Mary C. Neal

About Andrew

My story begins in the summer of 2009. While studying for a college exam, I had an experience that would forever change my life. In the blink of an eye, I found myself—or my consciousness, spirit, soul, or whatever you choose to call it—in a place far removed from Earth.

In an instant, every fear, insecurity, doubt, and trace of anxiety vanished, as if they never existed. In their place was something indescribable: a powerful, overwhelming, infinite love—far greater than anything I had ever known or imagined.

There was no judgment in this realm—only understanding. A deep, compassionate, all-knowing understanding that transcends anything human language can express.

Here, I could see the bigger picture. I was instantly reconnected to what I can only describe as infinite wisdom—the source of everything. With that came clarity and truth. This wisdom and love washed over me, melting away all of my earthly problems.

Yet, it felt as though this knowledge wasn’t new to me. In that moment, I let out the deepest exhale of my life and thought, Oh yeah… I remember. Almost feeling foolish for having forgotten.

For the first time I can remember, I knew I was home.

Before I could question where I was or why I was there, I was slammed back into my body. Instantly, I sprang up from my seat, flooded with adrenaline and a surge of energy unlike anything I’d ever felt. I paced around the house, my mind racing. What just happened? Where was I?

I didn’t have the answers, and all of the wisdom and clarity faded the moment I returned to my body—but I knew, with absolute certainty, that wherever I’d just been was more real than this world. Earth now felt like a dream.

Still, I told no one. I didn’t know how to explain it, and I assumed no one would believe me. After all, I wasn’t a doctor or theologian—I was just a college student taking a summer course, trying to stay eligible for the upcoming baseball season. So I locked the memory away, unsure of what to do with it.

Years later, fate would reopen that door. One day, I randomly turned on the TV and caught a program mid-interview. A neurosurgeon—a former atheist—was describing a near-death experience. It stopped me cold. The details he shared—the love, the wisdom, even the indescribable colors and senses—matched mine exactly.

Even though my experience was not that of an NDE, I finally realized… I wasn’t alone.

Still, I kept my experience private, but that moment lit a fire in me. I began searching for more stories like the neurosurgeon’s. I wondered, Are there other credible NDE cases out there?

That question led me on a decade-long journey. I’ve now reviewed over a thousand NDEs from around the world—stories from people of every background, culture, and belief system.

At first, I never planned to write a book. But over time, I began casually bringing up NDEs in conversations. Each time, I was met with blank stares or misconceptions. Most people think of the Hollywood version—nearly getting into a car crash, flashing memories, then walking away untouched. They don’t realize that real NDEs often involve clinical death—confirmed by medical staff—followed by a return that defies explanation.

Eventually, I knew I couldn’t stay silent. The evidence I found shattered every theory that tried to explain NDEs away. Those theories claimed to be scientific, yet they had zero evidence to support them. Meanwhile, I continued to uncover case after case from doctors and scientists who had personally experienced NDEs. Real cases, backed by medical records, witnesses, and life-changing transformations.

Atheists in Heaven is my first published book. I never imagined I’d be an author. My background is in athletics and coaching, but in recent years I have devoted myself fully to researching, writing, and sharing Near-Death Experiences and other modern-day miracles. This calling has become my life’s work, and I am committed to bringing these extraordinary stories to as many people as possible.

I believe these experiences are no accident. I believe I was meant to find them—just as you were meant to find this book.

If you’ve had a Near-Death Experience, out-of-body experience, spiritual awakening, or any other kind of miracle, I’d love to hear your story. So many of us stay silent out of fear. But miracles are far more common than we think—they just stay hidden until we start talking.

That’s why this book will be the first of many in a series. My goal is to share these miracles with as many people as God allows—and I hope you’ll help spread the word.
